Russ,

How did you direct the spray into the injector without it blowing out the sides or back at you? Maybe my technique was wrong. Also, since the injectors take 28 to 35 psi to open the pintle the pressure in the aerosol cans would be marginal, especially on plugged injector.

With all the old 911s there must be in US using K-jet, there has to be somebody who can clean and diagnose these injectors. Here in Oz I actually have a wrench < 1 mile from my home who can do it, and has done mine, for < $100 the set. With the proper equipment its easy.
Russ's set of MB units would obviously be a very good solution too. There was a Peugeot 505 that used identical injectors, but they wont be at all common I suspect.

SAAB 900 1980 - 1988 are also listed with identical injectors, but I don't know it that helps either. It seems that the prize for this injector har soared form $30-ish to $100-ish over the last 2--3 years

Quote: there is place in Arizona that sells this same injector for $27 each new, the best price on new ones that I have found so far.

Russ,

Do you have a link to this vendor in Arizona? That is a great price!

Dennis-

it's an old trick, but if you turn the injector upside down, then put the spray can tube up inside the injector and spray into it, the fluid pressurizes and make the injector pop.

this mostly works on very old, dirty, and worn out injectors, but it will show you which ones are spray pattern OK and which are not. its not the real way to test them, but it's close......

for those interested:

(they are on the web as well)

Mercedes Benz application/Bosch #0437502047

it's brass, and reportedly an updated model (updated from when???? the 1930's????)--about a half inch shorter than a 928 injector, but who cares for a $20 bill?

$19.99 each, new and 1 year warranty

I have these in my Euro and it made a world of difference----

Russ,

When I tried that it sprayed back on me. Probably since they were lacquered/plugged. That's when I set the compressor on 60 PSI, let them soak with cleaner then blew them out. I can see it working on nonblocked injectors. Thanks.

Did you guys re-use the same rubber sleeves after cleaning the injectors?

I removed and replaced mine because they were hard and brittle, but the injectors can be cleaned without removing them from the seal and carrier. If yours are still pliable and are making a good seal, try cleaning them while still assembled. If you are sending them out for cleaning, they will need disassemble which will probably destroy the old seals. If you can get the injectors out easily, that indiciates the seals are old, hard and probably not sealing properly. i.e. they need replaced.

yep, they were non-blocked, but were in very bad shape......

poor spray patterns, no spray patterns, wish they had spray patterns........

some just dribbled, some sprayed two small streams, some just....well you get the idea.

re-using the rubbers was no big deal, but suggest that new ones be used--they're cheap.
