Problem, I can't get the seals to seal on the fuel injection tubes after engine comes to temp, or after trial run. The engine runs great untill I take it for a trial run after it comes up to temp. Then it has a slight miss and the whistling starts. I noticed I can't get the air boxes to sit level, the rubbers seem not to fit just right. Any ideas on how to get to seal correctly?
Thanks for any quick replies, want to get out by tomorrow in the sun.
I have done alot of work under the air boxes and fuel injection tubes ( not sure of correct name, someone pipe in please), fuel injectors serviced, changed all vac lines and vac rubber 90's, changed a few oil lines, put on clamps where PO left them off, replaced oring under throttle body, and the two for the MAF. Replaced the 2 mesh sieves in MAF. Changed the HWSOV (It didn't need it, but I was there). Put on new wiring harness between throttle body and front of engine round plug(not sure of name again, someone tutor me here), the harness was corroded severly, started to melt the romex connector.
I had cleaned the filth that accumulated here from the last 17 years, and there was alot.
Just need to keep the whistling away.

Well, I have fixed my own problem.
I have found out by following this procedure the air boxes will fit correctly.
1. Put the seal on the throttle body and barely snug on the clamps for the throttle body, and upper 'TEE' tube.
2. Then put the seals on the airboxes and tighten the clamps up.
3. Install the opposite side of the seal on the airbox to the tubes on the intake.
4. Start with the center 'TEE' tube, tighten the clamp.
5. Tighten the remaining clamps.
6. Finish by tightening the throttle body clamps.
After having to do the R&R of the seal the third time, I have figured it out. It seems like it took forever, but I DID learn something.
Never under estimate the easiest of things. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Doz,
Can't fuel help on the fuel injection tubes(?)
Are you talking the rubber intake boot's?
There is a air hose under the manifold on the 85/86 that might not be sealed. The idle stabilizer hose, and my favorite is the hose under the intake where the air box intake -metal neck- slides into the plenum(?) there is no clamp there and if it doesn't slip in correctly the airbox and the two large air intake tubes don't seem to sit right. You can still put the two mount screws back in and tighten but it just won't look right - re-do it-.
Crap! There are a lot of hoses that can leak ,Doz.
Have you tried the old starting fluid trick? Put a tube on the nozzel, like a WD 40 tube and with the engine running spray some at a given tube or hose seal point if the engine starts racing you are close to isolation...Don't stop after fixing the first leak you find... there may be others.
PuhLease do this outside!!! Don't discount vacuum lines or the manifold gasket either.
The ether method should be a LOT FASTER method than taking everything off down to the intake valley though.
Audace', Audace'!
John S.,
P.S. I checked Ebay, nada...what do you have left?
Never mind...Just checked the post and 'you done good', you have earned a cool one. Or, Two <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

Well, I found two things.. The rubber seal was not just right on the center throttle body, and a vac line was off of the throttle body.
I did use the WD40 spray no help.
The whistling was a damn loud one. If I would of driven past a bunch of school girls, I would of beenn arrested it was so loud.

Ok, the Shark is running great. The a/c is freezing. But, I can't find anyone to help me put my hood back on.
Thanks for everyone's advice over the last few months on various subjects, and past topics from others I have found invaluable. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
Well, at least there is tomorrow.
