Thank Steve,
You can now rest on your Demi-God status, for a short while anyway.
Thanks again

Steve,

Can you pipe in here for some advice. I know a long post, but I need some advice. I am not that knowledgable on the transmission. TIA

Where is the Rpm, rm sensor? I can change it out. I have no access to an oscilloscope. Secondly, I have a spare controller from my donor shark.

My shift indicator lights on the dash seemed to go out at the same time the tach did. I have replaced the pcb board on the pod, cleaned electrical connections.

Have a scenario going on. My tach is no longer operational at all. It use to work only in low gear (2). I would shift the trans manually out of 2, the tach drops out. I adjusted my trans shift linkage as best as I can. The shift indicator did not line up with the letters or numbers. The tach no longer works in low, nor any other gear. Secondly, with the shark standing still I can manually shift the trans into gear, were the trans itself is in gear but like on the lobe of switching gears(you know that mid point between clicking and not clicking but in gear, hard to describe). The tach will operate. Let the trans click into gear, and no tach.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. Wally and a few others did give me some advice. Unfortunately from their advice I still have no tach nor dash indicator lights. I guess I need to dig deeper I guess.

If I need to replace parts I can do that. I have a donor shark I am parting out.

John,

I think that you have two different problems.

First - adjust the shift cable so that you get proper shifting. Adjust the transmission switch where the cable goes into the transmission so that the shift lights, neutral start and backup lamps operate correctly.

Next problem - The tach should not be connected in any way to the shifting. My guess here is that you have a bad ground connection, so that the power for the shift lights is killing the tach, or you have some freaky cross-connection where the shift lights are hooked to the tach. My money is on the bad ground in the pod. Try adding a ground jumper to the tach.

I tried the eraser trick, but my contacts were to far gone. So i went at them with 220 grit sandpaper, being real carfull and useing almost no pressure. I also found where 2 of the copper strips had pulled away from the board. A little fingernail polish did the trick there.
After all was said ans done (replaceing every light in the pod because i didnt want to take it off twice) Every thing works great now. Prior to this i had the same problem John. Speedo would work fine the just stop. next time you start the car 50/50 chance it would start again. Cant say exactly what fixed it. Oh i did replace the tach gear while i was in there.

Dozman,

You did say you changed the PCB right? When you start you engine while its cranking, does the needle of the tech jump before it starts? The only physical connection between the tech and indicator lights is the tech gage on the instrument panel.

Check and clean your ground connection first. The tech ground is a brown wire underneath the dash. Check for a loose wire terminal (MPIV).

The trans switch is grounded at MPVI, passenger side, rear truck panel. The EZF controller is grounded at MPVIII. If you have no tech disconnect the black harness form the neutral safety switch on the transmission (drivers side, center of transmission). Jump pin #30 and 87 of the starter rely (XIV) to get the car started. Or start the car then remove the harness. Make sure you’re in park with the emergency break on. Note the symptoms of the tech. No tech, change the EZF controller with the donor one you have. Note the symptoms of the tech. No tech, change the speed reference mark sensor, rear center of the engine block, not the one in the bell housing. Note the symptoms of the tech, no tech, change the tech gage.

When you get your tech working I’ll tell you how to adjust your indicator lights.

Good luck

Steve and Wally,

I appreciate the advice. I have adjusted the shift linkage. Thats fine now. The rest I will have to do maybe tomorrow. Due changing out a severly leaking low pressure switch and charge "Big Dave's" a/c before he leaves on vacation.

I am a novice with the controllers. Someone peep in and let me know which one is the controller I need to switch. Either by part number or physical location. TIA

Damn you guys are definitely good.
