Default Yet Another Wheel Question.

Looking at the following, will these fit without spacers and does anyone know if lug nuts will need to change?

Wheel Size:
Fronts 18x8.5 ET50

Rear 18x10.5 ET42

Tires Are:
Fronts: 225/40/18

Rears: 265/35/18

Any help is greatly appreciated, need to move quick on these!

Af,
Looking at Andrew's wheel fitment spreadsheet, both front and rear will stick out too far.

Thanks Glen, I've tried downloading Andrews chart to no avail.

That's a bummer, I really wanted these wheels and was finally in a position to buy them....

If they are priced right buy then and if they don't fit resell them.

Or if thet are local, see if you can test fit them.

Without even doing that math, I would avoid the fronts due to the offset. My street wheels are 52/53mm offset Cup Is and they tramline a lot more than my 65mm offset track wheels despite having narrower rubber. The rears should be fine, but rear tires/wheels on 928s are very car dependent. Knowing that you are very particular about the condition and look of your car I wouldn't buy anything like that without being able to test fit them as they may require some pulling/rolling of the quarter panel.

fronts should be closer to 57 mm, rears near 67 mm with 8 mm spacer.

no change of lug nuts if they are ball seat (lug nuts) wheels

Umm... fronts should be 60-70. Rears don't really matter and 8mm spacers would prevent proper thread engagement on his studs.

Also, there are different ballseats for wheels but in general you are correct. Chuck Z had issues with some wheels with a different lug seat.

rears do matter, as my 11 inchers (et 67mm) require a spacer. my fronts (8 inchers) are et 57 mm, with spacers or not (I run spacers on them).

his back spacing is too shallow on the front and rear, more so on the rear.

they may work on a GTS rear fender. maybe.

Thank you everyone for the input. Matt you're right, I wouldn't risk putting the wrong size wheels on the car not just because of having to roll the fenders but I also value functionality as much as aesthetics.

The wheels I was hoping to buy are the Techart Formula's in black, I've always wanted a set and these came up used for a great price. I'll keep looking....

Afshin, for the fronts the tramlining may be the only issue so if you love the look they may be okay (check Andrew's calculator but make sure your Excel security is set to medium). If you're turning on mountain roads at SITM, you'll never notice the tramlining effect.

Okay, so you bought something less than ideal. I don't see why you would say they 'should' be closer to yours when you didn't make a great choice. The rears he posted are a much better fit than yours.

I was referring to his pick of 10.5 inch wide rear wheel, nothing more......

as for my choice, I chose to put the maximum widest wheel available. my wheels measure 19 X 11 rear, with et 67 mm offset, tire size 315/25/19. they require a small spacer to prevent rubbing on the back side. there is very little room for error on this, as a quarter inch one way or another will cause tires/wheels to rub on either the inside wheelwell or the outside fender opening.

his et 40 mm offset is not enough, even with a 10.5 inch width......of course, there are others that have more information as to what will work and what won't-

I love it when people speak in absolutes then admit they don't have a clue what they are talking about...
