Default Roof edge strip / drip rail end piece R&R?

One of the subtler things that separates a 5 foot car from a really nice car are the conditon and fit & finish of the trim pieces, and my car is hurting on this front. My drip rail end pieces (928.559.121.03 and 928.559.122.03) look like **** (forgive the old polish bits down in the crevices......):

There's very little in the archives about these, though DaveC's got a nice pic of the whole piece. I presume the tabs break off?

The pieces themselves are realtively cheap, ~$10 each. But it looks like they need to be painted body color.

Anyone replaced these? Or figured out how to fix the ones they have without resorting to supergluing the drip rails in place? Probably a dumb question but I'm a retard when it comes to all these body trim clips, fasteners, etc.....

Not only are they painted, the new ones usually don't fit into the rails. You have to grind them to go-in, and it's pretty tricky to make this fit and look good...

At least the drip rails are available again from Porsche Classic. I just hope they pack them better nowadays.

those rail trim parts look like mine do right in front of the hatch.

Although i thought they were some type of plastic. If you have to paint them then forget it, I will live with it as is. Maybe they can be adjusted somehow though.

Mine weren't all the way in when I bought the car so I loosened the set screws and pushed them back in. They weren't broken so no need to replace. They're still not perfect but better than before.

Are yours broken or just pulled away from the trim?

Don't over tighten the screws when reinstalling as it will pull them away from the drip edge and you can risk cracking them.

FYI a good boars hair brush, some microfibers and detail spray will remove that excess dirt/wax buildup to get you closer to the nice condition you're after.

Here are a couple shots of mine, little dusty from sitting in the garage all winter.

To fix your trim peices, the long one (rain gutter painted body color ) is glued onto the car you can use some silicone to reattach this . To remove the long trim use a heat gun with a helper as one continuously moves the heat gun back and forth start at the front, and work to the rear, the rear portion is sometimes loose but if you start at the back it is very easy to bend the trim and then it wont be able to be straightened. Also if the rears are not fitting well then you need to prefit themonto the rear hold downs then mark the roof and trim with a piece of tape so you can fit the trim so all pieces line up. Use a dab of slicone on the screw so water wont leak into the hatch area after fitting the trim use some blue tape to hold things together while the silicone cures, you can use either black or clear,.Also pay attention to the drip rails that run along the windshield sides these can sometimes start rusting , if they do then the area needs to sanded dowen rust converter applied and then some type of primer applied before the silicone is applied

Default Thread revival...

In an attempt to reseat/adjust the end cap on the driver's side, I broke the tab off, not realizing that these little buggers are cast and won't bend.
The broken foot has turned a slightly ill-fitting but acceptable end cap into the trim sticking up 1/2".
Fortunately painting a new or used one to match isn't a problem (one of the advantages of black).
I see 928.559.121.03 as being available, but I'm wondering if they actually are.
Anyone know?

They were a few months ago, as I received new ones, and new drip rails for my GT project.

Cheers!
Carl
