Tranny prob...maybe
Very rarely, I will start in 3rd (as in shift doen to the "3") and for some reason it will stay in 2nd gear. The only way to "fix" the problem is to shut the car off and turn it back on.
Presto, bango, even just the .5 second of it being off does the trick.
I am guessing that it may be low on trans. fluid. So, I was wondering if:
that is a good guess,
what other guesses are,
where do I pour trans. fluid into the car,
procedure (I assume have the car running for 10-15 mins, pour it in),
and what type (since we all know how particular 928's are)
Thanks a ton,
Chris Taylor

Do you have the Owner's Manual Chris? Then for god's sake, read it man.
Do NOT drive the car until you determine the cause - unless of course you don't mind spending a few grand on a tranny rebuild.

The Owner's Handbooks are available from us (and the other vendors) for about $20 plus shipping. Lots of useful info.
To check the transmission fluid:
Car must be level, engine running in Park or Neutral.
Kneel down by the right rear wheel, and use a good flashlight to look for the plastic tank on the side of the transmission. There are three marks on the tank.
The bottom mark is the minimum level with the transmission at ambient temperature.
The middle mark is the minimum level with the transmission at operating temperature.
The top mark is the maximum level with the transmission at operating temperature.
It is critical that the fluid never be below the bottom mark nor above the top mark with the engine running.
Use Dextron III in both the transmission and the power steering.
