If the price stays at the $7000 level it's kind of like buy a supercharger kit and get a beat up 928 for almost nothing.

Yah, a cosmetically imperfect 928...

...with GT gearing and a (fully installed and all-sorted-out) intercooled oil-cooled centrifugal supercharger system.

Ryan sez dibs, he sees the potential (depsite his previously posted non-fandom of the efficient-but-boring centrifugal application). Anybody here going to bid against him?

THERE IS A SLIGHT LIFTER TAP WHICH COMES AND GOES INTERMITTENTLY
I thought only 16Vs and early '85s had lifter tap?

Loose cam chain?

"THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A 1992 928GT TRANSMISSION WHERE THE GEARING IS MORE AGGRESSIVE THAN THE STOCK TRANS"

You know Hacker, it never occurred to me how they managed to do that and keep it a slushbox car! Quite a trick indeed.

I must be losing it. I am home sick and it's driving me crazy.

Not looking good on the truth-in-advertising requirement, IMO.

I talked to the owner.
He and his wife just had a baby so no time to play with the car anymore.
He doesn't really know what it has for a trans. It does sound like it has the lower gearing and the speedo still works so that tells me it is an 89 trans. The later trans had PSD and the speedo was picked up by the ABS sensor so if it was the later trans he would have had to rig something up for the spedo and he said he didn't think anything was done with that.
The engine does have a loud knocking when it warms up. The oil pressure also goes low when warm. Sounds like the typical cam plugs falling out of the 87 heads and loss of oil pressure hence a loud lifter knock. Just a guess.
