It seems like a very interesting concept. The only problem could be if the auction sells low and then the guy doesn't put the effort into the repair thinking that it wasn't "worth it" anyway.

He wouldn't list it at $485 if it wasn't worth it to him! That's Carl Fausett & he just likes working on 928's. He can work on my car anytime.

I didn't mean that auction in particular, I was referring more to the concept of auctioning a service in general.
For those shady tree mechanics who do enjoy working on these cars, it could possibly turn out to be a great resource for 928 owners.
Some people have done t-belts numerous times. Others have pulled down intakes, etc. Others may have experience with motormounts and the like. These individuals would not necessarily have to be certified Porsche mechanics as their experience doing certain routine tasks should be all thats necessary.
