Super photos!

Having clear images like this would be a tremendous help in explaining something to a fellow 928 owner. They need to be on a web site somewhere, available to everyone - with your permission, and with due credit, of course!

thanks!

i'll be making a page of my own, but you're more than welcome to use them for anything you want to do.

it's a good thing Rat Shack has bulbs that are close to those, but if a was still working i could get them free instead of $3 each...

Great pictures. I was confused by the picture of the bulbs for a while until I remembered that our '89 has a different display from your '88 and has different bulbs.

The big 3 were unable to identify and order the bulbs for the '89 back when I needed one so I found a BMW equivalent. If anyone needs a p/n I'll dig it up.

Those litle bulbs are fun to replace. Guy i work with has done aa few for some local 928 owners, I havent had the pleasure yet due to the fact i dont have them in my 84 euro. Didnt see that adjustment for the volt gauge when i was in there. I will have to go back in and take care of that. Thanks for the info and great photos.

Anyone know how to check if the gauges are accurate, and if the needles are on correctly? I'd think that there must be some way to do this with the gauges out of the car. Something like "X" volts to the gauge should cause it to display "Y" value would be nice. Even just knowing where the needles should be pointing with the gauges turned to one of their stops would help. I just stuck my gauge needles back on as close to the way that they were as I could, but how would you know if that was correct to start with?

Cool

That's interesting about the voltmeter adjustment...

My voltmeter, however, usually does not indicate anything. After a few miles on the expressway, it suddenly comes to life, indicating around 13-14 volts. Has anyone had this problem? What wires did you tighten to make it work again?

Here is some info on the BMW bulbs I used for our '89 instrument panel:

I replaced 3 bulbs total (1 in the outermost end of each LCD display and 1 in the Drive shift indicator position) with BMW p/n 62 11 1 391 260. These were 1.5W, 12V (same as the original bulbs) and looked identical with the exception of the plastic base color (beige BMW vs. yellow Porsche). The illumination seems perfectly matched to the remaining o.e. bulbs.
