I have a feeling that wont happen. If he is like most 928 owners, the cold beer and the 928 in the garage go hand in hand. In the garage is the key.
Most big jobs start with a cold beer, and the gumption that "Hell yes I can tackle that in a day"
2 days later you are still wrenching and having fun.
That is one cherry looking S4, nice pic buddy.

Paid $10,500 plus $750 for delivery.
I already ordered a set of Carrera III's 18x8 and 18x10's and Continental 225/40ZR18 and 285/30ZR18
It has the expected "little" issues:
-small oil leak (hope it doesn't turn into a big issue!)
-left tail light running bulbs are out (2 of the 3 anyway)
-dash lights are out
-AC is not cold (thank God my friend is an AC man)
-gas needle is flaky (only goes to 3/4 when tank is full)
-belt tension light comes on occasionally (any pointers or advice on adjusting that?)
-LCD of console clock is bad
-stress crack on lower windshield corner
-stone chip in passenger side fog light lens
The good news:
-engine is strong as hell
-trans shifts perfectly
-car handles like its on rails
-brakes are awesome
-the only noise I hear that I don't like are the rear tires (cheap off brands)
-car smells like it has never been smoked in
-dash is excellent
-seats are near excellent
-paint is extremely good (I'd say a strong 7 out of 10)
Here are some more pictures:

I had this problem - turned out not to be the needle or sender unit, but instead a vent hose that runs from the tank body through the frame to the ventilation system. If the pressure can't equalise, then the air pressure builds up in the tank when you fill, and it stops.
The tank should hold 80L (18 gallons? not sure what the imperial equivalent is).
Pre 1990 Guards Red cars have no clearcoat.. which means you can polish the oxidation off. You might find you can bump that number to an 8/10 with claybar, a good polish and then wax

Very nice!! I have a fondness for red 928s. Good score on no side mouldigs.
See if it has a folding wing. Perhaps if it has a low enough vin # it might also be a oil squirter engine.

That sounds like priority to check. Do you know when timing belt was last changed? If very recent then may just need the initial retension, otherwise you should change belt (and water pump too unless you know it was changed last time with belt).
Could just be intermittent fault with the ground wire of belt warning system but you need to know for sure. Check belt tension first which is a quick job and see if the warning system is giving valid warning.

Good score. Did you buy it sight unseen? I've been considering buying a Boxster S next but I'm leaning more to a S4 now. I sure do enjoy these cars. Other than the price of parts they're really fun to drive.
