Okay, should my exhaust manifolds look like this:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2408139652&category=33632" target="_blank">option - A</a>
Or this:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2408699755&category=33632" target="_blank">option - B</a>
The correct answer may surprise you!

I say "B." I don't think Porsche would have put the woefully inadequate "original" model manifold on the Euro S.
This manifold is the Header Buster! No need to pull out the checkbook for headers if you have this manifold.

Flint -
For an '84 Euro PET shows 928.111.140.04 (cyl 5-8) and 928.111.139.09 (cyl 1-4). These look similar to option A. The PN in picture of option A is different than those listed for an '84 Euro.

Thanks all. After some discussion on importers a while back, I began to wonder if they might have swapped headers as well as installed a cat, as in taking everything from the cat forward from an older US model and sticking it in place. I can't find pictures of what 81-84 S models would have had, only 77-80 and S4s. Eventually, it'll probably all have to go anyway.

all 16 valve engines used that ugly rough cast iron lump ; just as ugly on the inside .......4.5 4.7 4.7 Euro S all basically the same . That is why several years ago "headers" became popular to fix a serious deficiency for the 16 valve engines . The 85-86 32 valve got the tubular stainless headers with two bolt flanges to the heads . 1987 got three bolt flanges but the same tubular stainless stepped headers from Porsche . That is why headers for anything after 1985 do very little ....it is hard to fix what is not broken . Most of the gains shown with "headers" for the later cars is with out cats and with improved mufflers . The 89 GT we race got nearly 20 hp gain with the Ott X pipe and dual highflow mufflers WITH STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLDS . Point is most of the gains would appear to be the result of removing the cat and using low restriction mufflers . So those with 85 and newer cars when asked about the performance just comment; " Yea has Factory tubular stainless stepped headers cost about $4,000 for the pair , no they do not leak and blow out gaskets all the time or drag on speed bumps but they sure do work well" .
