Lighted Key Heads
When I bought my 86½ couple of weeks ago both the lighted keys from the PO have the guts missing.
Does anyone know that if I buy a battery, a bulb, and presumably a cover the light will work? Or do you recommend getting new heads.

The reason they are like this is - they all fall to pieces!! I have lost the button in mine, so now the battery wont stay in, and the little copper strip that makes circuit to the bulb is long gone.
By all means get one from the bug 3, but I suggest tacking the cover with a drop of super glue or similar. The badge also fell out of mine once, and I had to glue it back on.

I just ordered one from my local dealer to go on the new key that I also ordered from them. I think the head was about $21 and the key was about $60.
My current key has a lighted head. I had to shim the bulb to get it to work reliably. I also had to glue the crest back on after the key went through the wash.

Take the advise of putting a dab of super glue on it to keep it closed. I had two that popped apart on me and lost the guts. I doubt you will ever have to change the battery, but they will definitely pop apart at some unfortunate time. You don't want to loose that little copper piece or the button.
