Post Twin Supercharger 928 engine!?

I am sorry to start a thread on this without any details, but I am so exited I can not help it!

Yesterday I called a previous 928 owner here in Norway about a parts car. He told me about a front damaged parts car with a twin compressor engine, supposed to be good for 610hp, for sale!

The owner is coming back from India in one week, and I can't wait to talk to him! I only could reach his brother now, and he was not able to give me any details. I know, this sounds to good to be true, but I keep my fingers crossed!

Until I see a dyno chart, or at least some more details on the engine, I put little trust in the claimed 610hp.

I am sure I have seen information somewhere about a twin supercharged S4 made by Strosek. That car had a claimed 410bhp, maybe this is the same engine?

Could be this one. This pic has been floating around. Can't remember where it came from.

I'm pretty sure that I know who you're speaking of Ian, because he offered it up for sale here on the discussion board several months ago. Check the archives. The car was NOT running when he bought it, if I remember correctly, and he had some "paperwork" from some engineer "certifying" that the engine had 610 hp. Not much proof if you ask me. Also, he posted a link to the pics. They were of the same set-up as already shown here by Andy and Eric, but there were parts missing, and in general the engine looked as though it hadn't run in years. If I'm not mistaken he was asking $3500.00 USD for it. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this set-up, even if only for it's "Tim Allen More Power Grunt Factor", but it was no cream puff. Still might be worth the money to the right person that was willing to invest alot of time and probably $$$$$ into it. Definitely be the only guy on your block with one, that's for sure!!!!!! Good luck with it Ian, and please let us know what happens.

Wierd. I saw this post. And then my new 928 showed up. In the back seat was this book- Brooklands Road Test Books. And in that book is this exact picture. Here's what they say about it.
4.7 liter 8:1 compression ratio, nominal power 340kW (DIN)
0-100 km/h 5.2 sec
0-200 km/h 20.5 sec
0.75 Bar @ 4000 rpm
Top speed 272 km/h however with the 345 wide Pirellis in a new tail section they predict 300 km/h.
The conversion cost German R12,000 whatever that means.

Chris,

I tried to search the archives, but could not find any information. Do you remember any words he used in the topic that I search with? I have tried looking at posts with supercharger in it but could not find anything.

460 HP sounds about right...perhaps a bit wishful at only 11 psi.

The performance figures are slightly better than for my Callaway running on 8.5 psig. I managed 0-60 of 5.5 seconds.

Looks cool. But how are two superchargers better than one ? It's not like spool up time is an issue.

Hey Ian. Sorry I sure don't remember the specific topic, or any good search words other than maybe "supercharger" or "twin supercharger". If I'd had the money at the time, I would have probably bought it "just because". Definitely NOT your everyday 928 engine!!!!!!!!! I wish I had more info for you, other than what I already wrote in my earlier post, but unfortunately that's all I remember of it. If anyone else out there remembers more than this please chime in.

Hmm, this seems strange.

The car I am talking about sits here in Norway, and was advertised in a Norwegian magazine about the same time as the Strosek thread was going. It seems not to be the same car, although this car also has front damage.

There was no mentioning of 610hp or the intent to sell in that thread, there might be another thread about "my" car.

I have no knowledge if the engine is an original Strosek build or some homebuild, Hopefully I will know soon. Of course, 610hp with no intercooler is not remotely feasible, so if this is an original Strosek car the power figures are just made up.

Personally, I don't care much for the 80's look of the Strosek cars and heard about this car in a search for a parts car. I think the car has had its front end chopped off (this is something that we previosly had to do to be allowed to import a parts car to Norway) so it is probably not likely that the original body can be rebuilt.

Well, I will post when I know more. If anyone remember anything about the 610hp car for sale, please make a reply!

Ian
