AC extra air valve (CIS)
My AC Extra air valve seems to have become intermittent - idle dropped when turning AC on the other day. Tapped the valve body, and it jumped up.
Are these things fixable, cleanable, or am I going somewhere new?
TIA,

JP,
I never had problem with this valve, but check it for:
1. El-power and measure the resistance
2. Movement of the solenoid
3. Opening when on
4. Evt. cleaning of the valve opening/hoses

Erik,
Sounds like I am really luck here. Okay, off it comes thursday, and gets a bath.
You couldnt measure the resistance of yours for me, could you please? Then I will have something to compare to.
Thanks,
jp

JP,
I measured/tested the valve from my donor car (I have the engine in my workshop)
- When you connect el-power you hear a click from the solenoid
- When on, you cannot lock through the valve, but you can blow
- Note there is an direction arrow on the valve
- The resistance is 54 Ohm
Hope this help you - Good Luck

I recently found that my aircon air valve was not responding when I put 12 volts directly across the terminals. I removed it, removed as much fine dirt as I could from inside it with cotton buds, then sprayed brake cleaner UP into each opening so that any remaining dirt would be washed out. After three or four shots of brake cleaner, it was working sweetly.

Erik,
Mine measures 27Ohms????
Seems to work fine when supplied with 12V from a spare battery, but needs a tap when fitted on car. Better check for 12V at the connectors, and the condition of the leads. Might have to follow them back to somewhere.....

JP,
I measured my other solenoid valve sitting on my 1984 engine - 25 OHM - It lock like you have a
x10, can be wrong reading.
I think you have low power to the valve due to a bad connection - Do you check the voltage?
PS: I just removed my engine from the car for renewing the head gaskets - so I am busy the next few days
