Default The Time has Come to Sell my Baby (sob, sob). $2000 OBO >>>PICS ADDED

I've listed my 1982 in the classified section, and that contains most of the necessary info. To flesh it out a bit, here are some of the pertinent details: Due to a dragging left rear brake caliper, and the fact that I was going out of country for as couple of months, she's been sitting since early December, and will not start now. That may be as simple as being out of gas. She's parked on an incline, and the fuel pickup may be above the fuel level (At the moment, I have neither time nor inclination to fix it). Prior to that, she started well (replaced the fuel pump relay with a good used one) and ran strongly. Once warmed up, the tranny (A/T) shifted crisply; when cold, there was surging between 2nd and 3rd. The A/C, which has been upgraded to r134, leaks just enough to require recharging about once a year. Unfortunately, Murphy's Law being what it is, on the very day the A/C was upgraded, the blower motor quit.

The interior is basically very clean. There is wear-through and a tear on the driver's side seat bolster, just where the left elbow is used to lever you out of the seat, the rest of the driver's seat is in very good condition. The passenger seat leather is hardened on the seat bed, but in good condition, the seat back is fine. Electrical controls on both seats work fine. There is warping on the leather dash and the are some scratches on the leather console cover where the radio was removed. The rear seats are in excellent condition, as is the rear luggage compartment. The luggage cover is intact and just slightly faded on the top. Rear hatch struts need to be replaced, but I have new ones which go with the car.

With the following exceptions, the exterior body is in excellent condition. There is a scrape just below the mirror on the driver's side, 3-4 inches high, extending from the rear edge of the front fender across but not beyond the door. The scrape has taken off the paint down to the aluminum, but there are no gouges in the metal, and there seems to be only one very slight depression in the metal just below the mirror. The fortunate part of this is that none of the scrape has affected any rustable part of the car. There is one spot of rust, about a quarter's size in diameter on the lip of the rear hatch. It's been ground down and primered. Also, on the right rear quarter-panel, there is a dime-sized ding that scratches but doesn't break the paint.

There are the usual minor electrical issues: cruise control is erratic as is climate control (although that is hard to tell without a blower). Turn signal return is inop. Occasional warning lights on dash come on about rear light out. One light was replaced, other works so there's probably a voltage imbalance.

Rear brake job done within the year, brake sensor switches on master cylinder also replaced within the year. Synthetic oil. Tires are at about 50% or a little less.

As said in the title, I'm asking $2000 as is/where is with no warranty. I will accept a reasonable offer and payment must be made in cash. The title to the car is clear and immediately available.

She was a sweet ride, but I no longer have the time nor the energy necessary to keep her in the style which she deserves.

I'm offering her first and exclusively to Rennlist folks for 2 weeks from Feb. 25, then she goes on Ebay and Craigs List.

Rennlisters may call me anytime 10am-10pm EST at 609-652-8098

The car may be seen by appointment. She's located near Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Dude, that sucks!

I wish I could talk you out of selling it. I'll bet we could get it running well with one or two tech sessions. Failing that I wish you had listed it two weeks ago when I had more cash on hand.

CRAP!

Where exactly is the Czech Republic in N.J.? I know where little Poland is (Wallington, with Linden a close second I've lived in both).

That's a pretty big scar. Looks like it was in really good condition until that too. Did the parking garage have any kind of insurance or anything? I would think you'd have some recourse in that case, no?

Anyway, Rip, I know you had this running before you traveled out of country over the winter, so hopefully it's not something major.

Perhaps I should have said New Jersey AND the Czech Republic AND Russia. I have residences in all three places.

The scar looks worse than it is; it is, basically, only skin deep. There's only one slight depression in the metal, just under the mirror, and one has to get the light just right to see it. That said, it still requires a paint job. Sadly, it was a self-park garage with no liability whatever.

Dunno about US, but in Canada that exact cupholder is about $2.99 at Canadian Tire; I got one the same day I got my '80.....when it comes to drinkin' timmie's on the road, we are all over that!

That cup holder wedges between the seat & console real nice, but still easy to remove when not in use. The cup holes are a little shallow/wide for my extra large double-double tho'
