Default 5-sp input-shafr grease

Does the 928 5-sp use grease on the transmission input shaft splines during reassembly?

No, grease will dry out and hold moisture. I used antisieze. Very little so not to fling the excess. You just want to protect the surface from corrosion and easy disassembly later.

actually Porsche makes or sells a hi temp spline grease it has a very hi melting point and its very sticky, it is dark brown in color, i have used it on clutch jobs for lube to the pilot / the splines and the TOB grease groove,

I think (think!) Stan is referring to Montagepaste, AKA Optimoly HT grease, Porsche P/N 000.043.004.00). Sticky as hell, so as not to spin off onto bellhousings, etc. I got some for my clutch job.
