Post New Exhaust needed - suggestions

Here we go. Its time to work on the exhaust now. There's a hole before the y-pipe enters the cat, so I'd just rather replace the whole deal......

My preference is to run from the current manifolds on downward with a "bolt on" setup. The path fine with me is to a Cat (for GA inspection), possible resonator, then Borla muffler. I want a nice low european rumble.

Who makes a clean, "no hassle/clean", setup. (I say that because I just did a full change over on my sons 2002 TurboBeetle last night. New everything from manifold back including cat, res, and muffler, all s/s. I have never in my life seen such a perfect system. Every component fit-like-a-glove. You can not tell its not factory.... it looks that good).

So quality is #1 for what I'm looking for.

Bob,

I had a Borla cat-bat put on my '78 and really like it.

Maybe a cat test pipe into a Borla cat back would do the trick for you?

I bought mine at 928 Int'l

As my signature states. I put the Borla and the "test pipe" on and like it. It does backfire on the open road but at idle it is a low rumble. I think that with the cat on and the Borla it would not be so much of a back fire. As for fit and finish I was real pleased with both on the Borla. And if you go with a Borla call Performance International in Ca. 1-800-522-1672 Their price was rock bottom. He explained to me that it was so cheap because they were like next door to the warehouse, so there was no middle-man shipping. I may have paid like 365.00 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

Bob,

I've got a test pipe that should fit your car. It's still in the box. (Never been used) Just taking up space in my addick. Give me an email, and good luck whatever you pull the trigger on.

Thanks for the inputs so far. I may go 1-of-2 routes.

1) Get a testpipe, run into a performance cat, then into the borla cat-back setup. (In fact I did see a Borla catback for $366 in CA online).

2) Get an original y-pipe/cat from PAP (which is loal), then attach the Borla catback on directly.
