Default Flashing hazard warning light at low RPMs

I have just completed changing the oil and filter and oil pressure sending unit on my 80 S Euro. I replaced the oil sending unit because it was always pegged at 5 bars, raiseing RPMs or warmed up it still read 5 bars. Maybe some of you remember the tough time I had getting the oil sending unit out, had to use heat. Anyhow, after oil and filter and sender changes the gauge still jumps up to 5 bars and stays there. The hazard light is now flashing at low RPMs as well goes out at 2000RPMs . Engine runs good, plenty of power. Can anyone help. Would the oil cooler thermostat be causing any of these problems?. I did remove the air filter and air box to clean them up, would a vaccum line being loose cause these problems.?

Good call Ken, but it sounds liek the flashing is a new symptom. IIIRC on some cars the "!" will flash if the alternator is not outputting the correct voltage. Since he was just working in that area, perhaps he disturbed the ALT exciter wire? I'm guessing here.

Start with Ken's call: do the dash warning lights also flash with the '!' - and does pressing the '!' have no effect?? If so, I've been there ... - so may be able to help once your symptoms are detailed.

OK. To start with it is a 80S euro as stated on second line of first thread, but thanks for your input. I could be wrong but I don`t think it matters how the two lends are connected as it works as a ground, but I will reverse them today to see if that is the problem. Alt exciter wire??? I don`t know what that is but I will check the Alt lends while I`m down there working on oil send unit wire reversal. The charge gauge is operating properly though. I did find out something else yesterday, the flashing hazard does not flash when engine is cold, only after engine warms up... Thanks to all that have or may help me out with my problem.. Toofer

It really does matter which way they are connected!

Neither one is a ground...

Porsche typically used brown colored wire for grounds .....earth is brown ground is brown. Brown wire with white stripe is a switched ground it opens and closes like with the pin on the doors for the interior lights. That information can be of great help when you are figuring out the wiring but there is no substitute for having the wiring diagrams...
