Thanks for all the input. I pulled the intake last night and in process found 1 plug wire almost secvered and 2 large vaccum hoses to the throttle body with ~.750" cracks in them. While intake is off what all should I check out? Notices some pretty heavy carbon buildup on several of the intakes is this normal? I also see that my injectors look pretty bad, is soaking in carb cleaner an OK method to clean up?

Do your fuel lines get them from Roger along with the other things you need, he has a kit do not wait to do this!

I have a set of 24Lb's available just rebuilt and flow tested if you need a set, soaking them will not do any good.

Those large hoses are to your Idle and vacuum to your brake booster etc and other vacuum runs. Get a new set now is the time to do this along with a new set of intake gaskets. Replace your small vacuum lines and spider if it is brittle. My inj connectors once removed broke and shorted due to age and it happens under the boot and you can"t see it. If you replace those get some with pigtails its a lot easier to install.

The tubes have baked on oil I assume, soak them in Marvel Mystery oil and clean as well as you can.

Thanks Tampa 928. What is cost on injectors? Also who is Roger and how do I contact for fuel lines.
The tubes them selves are fairly clean the buildup is in the head where the intakes bolts on? Thought about utilizing carb cleaner and wire brush but was concerned about getting anything into piston chamber.

Thanks for all the input. What I have discovered so far. 2 plug wired nearly severed under the intake, 2 vaccum leaks on unions to air box, 3 injectors so plugged I had to use a drill bit to remove debris, and the drivers side cam ~40deg from proper timing. Looking forward to getting all of these corrected and driving gain. Really amazed it ran at all in the first place.

Does a car of that year (1986) have the "green wire"? Replacing mine in a 1981 model cured a multitude of weird running issues.

No green wire on the 86 US 32valve.

If you have the funds to do it, try replacing all your sensors, ie; temp I, temp II, throttle position switch, crank sensor, and have your MAF refreshed.

The carbon in your intake ports is from the oil that gets into your intake from the crankcase breather lines. Some of us have re-routed those lines to an external breather to keeep this from happening.

Sounds like you are getting it right, and will certainly enjoy the way it runs when your done.
