87' S4 Ragtop on E-Bay
Just thought i'd throw this out there since you don't see to many of these. This is the 1st S4 i've seen. I think it looks pretty good.

why does it have an old rear bumper? if it's really an S4, put the right parts on it.
and those wheels look like crap... <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />

This is likely not an S4 - the only indication is the front bumper, which can be retrofitted rather easily.
In Europe, the age of a car is referred to by their first registration date. I knokw this might not make sense, but as long as a car is not registered, it is to be considered new. The manufacturing date is not always revealed to the buyer.
This one could be an' 86 model that sat in a showroom for a year and was first registered in '87.
I really think you meed to see a such conversion with both top up and down, and generally inspect it very closely.
I'd be curious to know who converted it. It does not look like the B+B conversion, or any other German conversion I've ever seen...

hi shark guys and gals
saw this post on the main board and figured i'd check it out. hmmm well even in those low res pictures the seems in the panels dont even look tight. interesting car nonetheless. the reason this post caught my attention was last year at hershey i saw my 1st 928 conv. and it was beautiful. panels lined up like it was factory. it was a dark color (im color blind so thats as specific as im gonna be hehe) and seemed to be one of the later model cars. is that someones car in here?

>> I guess this is how some of the factory 928s that were sold in 1996 account as 1996 models. Good news for the manufacturers, confusing for the buyers.
Another interesting German (Mercedes mostly, other companies too?) tradition are the "Jahreswagens." Employees get a discount to buy new cars but have to agree to hold them for one year. These are usually "lower-end" cars. You see alot of these advertized in the paper.
