Red face ENGINE PROBLEMS

Hey so listen i got my car checked out, and he said at first sight he thinks its the "lifter" on one side! So one of the cams or pistons isnt working. Not sure which cuz my dad wasnt specific. But on that note how bad is it? How much do you think it will run? Help!

Dude! u need 2 b more specific.
Like: What year car? Auto or manual? Is the car still drivable?
Not to sound like a smart a##, but you will get an answer like this:
If he thinks it's "lifter" and or one of the cams or pistons and he was not specific, how bad is it on that note? Well, not too good for you if you have to live under "house rules" How much? Don't know, not enough info.

If you were a little more specific and objective and I sure someone will respond with the same.
