Blair, keep me posted also. I just finished putting on an exhaust. I got rid of my pre muffler and muffler and installed a free flow exhaust from the cat back. It sounds really throaty when you get on it, and it's a bit louder than stock but not overly loud. I feel better response from the engine through out it's RPM range too. Plus it weighs about 35 to 40 pounds lighter. Thanks Sal <img src="graemlins/offtopic.gif" border="0" alt="[offtopic]" />

Blair, I was told of a shop that does all high end cars. So I called him and went down to Trenton, NJ to meet him. He used to have two 928's, he gave me the best cat back system that worked for my car. The shops name is Mufflex 609-890-0481. The good thing is it only cost me 495.00 installed. If you are tired of your 928's sound and want something more aggressive + the little extra power then you should give him a call, his name is Den. I don't remember the brand name of my muffler but he can tell you. I'am going to meet his mechanic next week, because I heard he has few tricks to make your car somewhat faster, I just hope it's inexpensive. I'll let you know what he says. What town do you live in?, maybe you want to hear my car's muffler first. I live in the Montclair area 15 min from NY. Take care Sal

Cool

Sal, I'm way down in Atlanta so the only way I'll get to hear your car is if you record it for me.

Well, right now she's stock. Has a nice rumble and is fairly throaty. I'd like a little more volume, but not annoyingly loud. I'm considering doing a comlete system, not just a cat back. Headers, high-flow cats, custom pipes, performance exhaust. I can't describe the sound I want, but I'll know it when I hear it.

The exhaust I have now sounds very good, just wish I can tone it down a few decb when I'am just cruising. But overall I'am happy with it. I was going to do the free flow exhaust and headers but from the inputs that I received its not a good HP to dollar ratio. Unless you track the car. The best HP to dollar ratio for the ehaust would be just the cat back. As for high flow cats, German made cars have a pretty much non-restrictive cat. This is my second Porsche and I have mantles covered with items purchased and either they didn't work as promised or the car was to annoying to drive cause of the upgrade. I think little suttle changes makes the car more driveable and enjoyable. Sal

I made a mistake, when I said " I was going to do a free flow exhaust" I meant high flow cats and headers. Sal

Back on topic, I mapped out the footprint of the shift pattern today. I'm working on some CAD drawings and will post how to make a template if you want to try your car.
