Post FIXED: interior lights

Since I have owned my 79 euro 928 the interior "dome" lights have not worked. My car only has two, one in front on the roof and one in the rear on the roof. I read many posts saying check the door switches check the wiring check the fuses check to see if bulbs are ok check to see if the housing is fine. None of the above were the problem. It seems that the P.O. had replaced both of the housings and when he or she hooked the wiring back up they reversed the power and ground. Now when I first looked at the unit it looked to me that they could be put on in reverse and still work. but that is not the case. The ground wire goes on the side that rotates. The power wire goes on the end that is stationary. Obviously the other ground wire is connected to the terminal that is grounded on the housing frame itself. Anyway after playing around with it for a few hours I figured it out. I did however break the passenger side door plunger. Does any of the big three sell them.

One more thing I can cross off the list <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

Door switches were less than $5.00 each when I bought a set from either 928 Intn'l or 928 Specialists (can't recall who exactly) a couple years ago.
