Post Fast Idle....Darn Gremlins!!!!

K,

First off, thank you all for the previous info...Big Help!

Here is where i am at. I have replaced the ECM, Had the injectors services, checked and cleaned the ISV, checked vac, cleaned all elec. connections. The rough/low idle is gone. She purrs like a kitten (an angry kitten.....RMB installed) and idles right where god intended

BUT

After some spirited driving (triple digits for extended periods), the idle sits between 1100 and 1400. Absolutely smooth as silk but will not come down. I tried "normal" driving for 30 minutes (residential and country cruzin) and still no difference in idle. If I turn off the engine and re-stair, everything goes to hell and a hand basket and the idle goes low and hunts, but if I turn it off and let it sit for 2-3 minutes, it is right back to perfect factory specs.

I have been stumped in the past but this one really has me scratching my head.

Any thoughts, I would really appreciate some advise to track this one down.

Could be bad (sticky) idle stabalizer or false air.

Have you removed the intake at all ?

Very long shot, but check your floor mat. For a while i couldnt figure out why my car wanted to idle at 1100 (it never hunted but was high). My mat had crept fwd just the right amount!

The hunting problem sounds like the idle stabilizer. Either IT or an input to it(false air or a signal of some sort)

Does the car smell rich when the idle hunts? could be the MAF going bad.

Perhaps one of the TEMP sensors are bad.

just an FYI for thsoe with LH cars. Every now and then on EBAY the LH Tech Service manuals show up for sale. I just bought one after 2 yrs of ownership. I waited 2yrs too long! I can see now that it will prove invaluable in the future as many of the cars probelms and be troubleshot via the information in it....temp sensores..MAF..hot wire..idle switches..LH ezk power//hall sensor...etc etc. Well worth the 20+ bucks.

let us know what you find as a solution.
