eBay Poll
#2
I have purchased two items from ebay by proxy. When I say by proxy I mean to say that I had a friend purchase them for me with my money.
Good results both times. I am very impatient so the wait on the delivery aspect drove me insane but for normal more patient people it is great.
BTW I got a like new condition 1984 sales brochure for the Porsche lineup including the 928 and the other item was my stereo. dirt cheap and new in box. I can only hope it wasn't stolen though I have no reason to suspect that it was. I am just a bit cynical I guess.

Thanks for using my poll! I feel as if I have been elevated to a level of high honor... <img src="graemlins/r.gif" border="0" alt="[king]" />
Hey, were you in OC about a month ago? I saw a 928C driving north on Harbor Blvd.

I tried to buy a BMW 1400 miles form home. I had to back out, the seller badly misrepresented the car. I never saw it on ebay again.
I just sold another BMW and my 944T via ebay. Niether actually sold on auction, but both drew in the buyers that eventually purchased the cars. So for about half the cost of a newspaper add, I sold both cars.
I find it to be a good place to advertise, and I spend time looking as well. Now I am seeking a 928. As luck would have it the number of 928s for sale just dropped by half

I've bought 4 928 off ebay. I probably paid about $1,500.00 too much for the 5-speed. The 85.5 was a good deal but shipping put it slightly over the true value. The blue 83 has been wickedly reliable and was a bargain for what I paid for it. The Meteor Metallic 86 is cosmetically the best of the 5 inside, runs strong but leaks oil like a sive. But, I knew that and got it for about half of what it will be worth once I replace all the seals and do the timing belt/h20 pump, etc. Doing that myself, another bargain.
Add all the interior parts I've gotten for a fraction of the cost, and I've saved tons of cash. I'm very happy ebay exists.

Great poll guys! Nice way to see how others feel regarding these issues and of course the 928.
Maybe a poll on maintenance cost and which items most often replaced or repaired. Great resource for potential new owners too.

In my experience eBay is a WAAAY better place to sell than to buy. I am constantly amazed at the junk that sells for far higher price than the same item new from a traditional retailer.
People are strange. And buyer be very much wary.

Well that was fun (I think).
Looks like the overwhelming majority have had positive experiences.
eBay - where you can buy stuff you had no idea you really needed!
