I know that this subject has probably been beat to death. But here I go. In one of the old threads there was referance to a silver hood liner that can be ordered from JC Whitney that's 4' x 6' for about $28.00 I was unable to find it on the web site. Any suggestions? Or for that matter I am going to go to an auto parts store in the area today, anything there that would work?

Chucker,
They don't list all items on the web site. It is listed in catalog 673J-04, page 194 as item # 25UC0705N at $26.95. You may try searching their site under "insulation heat/sound".

There is almost always a silver one on ebay-
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33654&item=2417879865" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33654&item=2417879865</a>
However, the oem 928 hood pad is for sound dampening, not heat insulation. I got my replacement from 928Intl. Now I need one for my '78 and wondering if any of the big 3 can supply the small piece in the front section of the hood?

Steve, when I bought mine from 928 International, I requested the front piece, and they included it no extra charge. Looks great having the front area to match. There was an original (Porsche) piece being offered by someone (partwerks or par?) a couple of days ago on Ebay. The silver one which is always being offered, is by someone who does not have a great reputation on this board.

Chucker and Steve J.,
Just as a heads up, the auction listed for the hood liner is from kuhleast_llc and he has already tried to rip me off and if you check out some of his other auctions some of his stuff has motodyne printed on the items. I would definately stay away from this one.

Here's a couple pretty good hood liner discussions from the archives:

Thanks for the heads up on the auction - I remember that guy now.
As a followup to the hood pad thread - I kept sticking the pad back on every time I opened the hood for a while. It seems to be permanently stuck now. I will take off the hood on the '78 to do the job. It's not that difficult to install the pad with the hood on but easier to prep with it off. It's almost impossible to drape the car good enough to keep adhesive overspray mist in the air from finding it's way on to the finish. If you're going to use spray adhesive, try to do it outside away from the car.
