Default PPI's..,

PPI is definately the way to go, but when it comes to certain purchases, I am sometimes a risk taker with no regard for planning.

They guy said he bought the car for $3,500 hundred, and he essentially wants to get back his money. I agree that this car may not actually be worth $3,500.
It's been on the market for two months...,

Today could be the day guys, here are the photo's from the old add...

Evozine, its sound that you're already sold on this car. I understand if the guys wants to get his money back but its all about you. Get the PPI and see if he'll take $2500 and then you'll have 1k to make it you're own. Just my 2 cents.

I have my fingers crossed for ya.

The seller would be HAPPY to get his money back.....you need to make him less happy ! Just because he made a mistake does not mean that you should. And make sure it is SMOGGED !!! The reason it has back registration may well be it failed smog plus the guy was too stupid to file a none op for a few dolars and avoid the registration which YOU need to confirm how much it REALLY is with back fees and PENALTIES....You know $4,000 considering the back fees and your registartion use tax (sales tax) is a lot of money for a garage/driveway decoration. Sure it makes the house look better but it is nicer to have a CAR ...runs drives and can be enjoyed not just looked at...

Default Good points...,

You are guys are too funny, the advice is keeping me sane though. The devil on one shoulder says "Bye it you big wuss", the angel on the other says, do more research, check everything out before you commit..

I really only have time on Satruday's to take car of car stuff. I will probably hold off until next weekend when I get the time to do more research..

Sunny an 70 degrees here...

thanks again guys,

I have no emotional involvment in someone else's desire for a 928 and at one time was described by a Psycologist as the most analytic person he ever encountered ! He had been retained by the firm I worked for to help determine how they could motivate me to perform in the manner which THEY wanted.

I once had a supervisor that didn't need the psychologist - he would pull me in the office every two weeks......

Default Smog...

The car passed smog two weeks ago, someone sent me a site that lets you confirm based on vin or plate#.

Jim, from your attention to detail is very much appreciated. You're talking to guy whose last project car left his garage in 1,000 pieces... So the advice to find a good running car makes good sense..

2 cents. A 928 with decent cosmetics, and a running engine is a pretty good deal. If it needs a tras(likely), that can be done.

Is it the car you want for a long time? Trans and PS work is pretty common. For the age, I would say it's around $3k-ish provided the paint is pretty nice, and the interior can get by. We all do wrench work on these for basically parts cost. It's the outside labor(paint, upholstery) that kicks your buns.

I once had a boss who stated "I know we are overpaid but I think we can get more." another who said "I wish I could scare you" another who ( new at his job) while I was being terminated from the job who said it was for many reasons which need not be enumerated...I asked him to please do so He managed to come up with that I was reading the Wall Street Journal at my desk during business hours...I was a registered investment advisor , head of fee based personal financial planning for a stock brokerage firm and a resource for the brokers on tax ,estate planning, options ,employee benefits etc. He got the axe a few months later ... back on topic ...Having the smog is a very good thing !

Default power difference... ,

Hey Gersar928. I see you have a first generation engine 928, and a 1987 model. How would you rate the difference between the 82 and 87 car. I understand that the 87 has 60+ more horepower, but how specifically does this pan out in an automatic.

I was told to consider the limited power of the 78 - 84 models.

Your thoughts, since you have three sharks and I have none.., yet..

A $15k 4.7 can be significantly faster than a $15k S4.
