I'm in the middle of replacing my steering rack on my 1986.5, but can't get the driver's side large inner tie rod bolt undone. Is it reverse threaded or what? I got the passenger side off OK (with a little struggle).
Any suggestions?
Eric,
Can be very tricky to loosen, as Greg said that's not reverse thread.
The best is if you can place a fork-spanner in a bench-screw-spanner (I do not know the correct name) and place the steering rack shaft in this Then you have both hand force free for loosen the tie-rod cap
Don't twist/turn the steering house-shaft!
I used a good-sized pipe wrench. Pictures and info at
