Yes Randy, you might say I started playing with fire at an early age. LOL!

Great info about cleaning the injectors. Thanks. I don't know how this works, but a fuel injection shop that I have done buisness with in Reno says that they clean their injectors with Simple Green and an ultrasonic cleaner. I don't have the ultrasonic machine, but I think the Simple Green may be a possibility! Just passing on some info. Later!

Hey Jim,

Do you know if this Ultrasonic Machine is something special or could you maybe use a Ultrasonic jewlery cleaner? I know my wife is hoping you say its something special.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave. I can't say for sure what the machine looks like as I only spoke with the shop owner about the process. Thanks for the idea about the jewelry cleaner. I'll see if my wife has one I can steal.LOL!!! Later.

[quote]Let's face it, it is possible to light yourself on fire while pumping gas, or filling a lawnmower. It really doesn't phase me all that much.

Shades of "Fire Marshall Bill"

(John)- "let me show you something" ---Boom!

Hey John, could the same procedure be done with something less explosive, like parts cleaner, simple green, etc? Seriously, I would hate to see on of our own hurt trying to save $200 or less.

Yes, I initially used sea foam, but wanted to see proper atomization, so I used gasoline in the real test. I suppose kerosene or diesel fuel could also be used, as it is far less dangerous to handle. I finished up last night, now the rest is just adjusting electronics on the car to get the mixture right. Car has never run better in the 10 years we have owned it. Callaway made some silly changes that just were not necessary. I followed their guidelines for what they do to Corvettes these days, namely stock injectors with two large flow injectors off the microfueler.

They tried to compensate for the large flow injectors at all 8 ports (914 1.7 liter injectors) by running up the tension on the air flow meter plate. It worked, but the mixture was always rich, too rich for the brain to close the loop.

I put the stock injectors in, set the fuel pressure back to stock (increasing it in this case to 37.5 psig, I was at 32 psig) and the car would not even idle. 180 revolution (less tension) of the pre-set against the spring in the air flow meter and it purred like a kitten. It will now idle at 700 rpm flat and steady. Still getting plenty of fuel under boost, since the pressure increases the main system fuel pressure (pressure against the pressure regulator diaphram) and the Microfeuler adds in an additional 600-700 cc/min. I may run my boost up to 10 psig and call it quits, since it is still just a tad bit rich on the north end. That should gain about 30 HP as compared to where I am now at 8.5 psig.

All I know is when I shift to third under hard loads, the tires will spin, even with the limited slip and a good suspension.
