I've pulled some stunts, but no 928 motors - yet.

Pulled a couple of 240z motors, but those are a piece of cake - sooo much room in there to work on them.

I pulled mine, but was in such a rush to put it back together that I skipped too much easy stuff while it was out. I will probably pull it again.

No vote from me yet, since I know I'll be pulling at least three 928 engines and quite possibly four. If for no other reason then to clean them...

Never a 928, but I did pull two '62 Vettes into the garage at 6PM once and swapped engines, wheels and seats and had one running at 8AM the next morning with one guy helping me.

I know, I know.. it doesn't count.

Just did my first a week ago and am still scratching my head as to how easy it is. In retrospect, it should have been the first thing I did when I got the car. I would have been driving the damn thing already. Who knew?!?! I spent a lot of time getting frustrated leaning over the fender and wrestling with parts before I had to pull it.

I can tell you this, once this 82 Euro is done and I get to working on the 85, the engine is coming out even if only for an oil change! Its just stupidly easy and I never knew that.

...and yes, though it can be done by one person, two is recommended. It took less than 10 minutes to pull it out after all was disconnected...and that took a couple of hours by myself. Took more time to hook up the chains than pulling it out and putting on a stand.

This sounds a little shady. Was there someone else doing the paint job while you did this?

Keith, thanks for the tip. I'm really intimidated by this job and don't plan on tackling it anytime soon, but if it's really all that easy, maybe after this summer I'll have a shot at it. I would love to do a proper engine bay detail instead of just the top and bottom separately. Nothing like a clean, smooth running engine to help you sleep at night.

It was shady. I had worked out a trade with the local MR. T's Corvette
Emporium for a cherry '59 and my brother wanted my nice fresh 327 instead of the windy old 283 in his. I was due to make the trade the next morning.
I think the statute of limitations has run out now.

I think the phrase you meant to use was "preferably a 2 man job".

I have done many alone and only one with an assist (or maybe I was assisting )

Done it once, by myself. My advice - get someone to operate the engine hoist for you!
