you may consider doing a compression test and leak down test to verify the "tightness" of your engine.

It seems like these engines are considerably overbuilt so you should be able to NOS your shark without "blowing off your heads, dude".

Be careful though. melting a 928 piston is a little more expensive than on a chevy 350.

Curt, the Zex system is a very good system, and has proven to work well with the imports, as well as the Mustang/Camaro crowd. Only problem for a 928 is that the system requires a throttle position sensor to operate, and we don't have one. There is a way around it, but it involves some electrical engineering which to me is just not worth it. I personally want a "plug-n-play" system. A few listers have used the Nitrous Express system for Mustang 5.0's with good results. Mark Kibort used a 50 shot NE system on his last 928 track car for quite a few races with no ill effects whatsoever. Of course that is a small shot. The fellow who owns Nitrous Warehouse is the one who developed the systems that Nitrous Expess manufactures, and is known in the racing community as "Mr. Nitrous". He is the one who helped Mark set-up his system properly. (unfortunately I don't remember his name at the moment) Any rate, he says NOT to use a dry system on a 928. Wet only, and does highly recommend a progressive controller. He says that for a very reliable street application, the 75 horse nozzle would be the safest, but that a 100 horse nozzle would probably work well also. He felt that a 150 shot would "probably" be ok, but that it would be pushing the reliability envelope a bit (why take chances??). Given that, my plan at the time was to buy the NE Mustang 5.0 kit, with the progressive controller, purge valve, bottle warmer, electric bottle opener, low fuel pressure cutout switch, etc... (full Monty is about $1200.00) and install that on my '89 GT. The only thing that has stopped me has been finances. He also told me to use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator with this system, for an added measure of safety. Now obviously I'm no expert on the subject, I'm just passing along the info that was given to me. Good luck with your choice, and please post your results.

There is a Rennlist Member web site with an '87 with a nitrous system: Clay's S$

I don't know who the member is, but there is an email link.

Curt,
I'm sorry that I can't provide you with any specifics for 928 apps, as I have not YET installed a system on my 928. The fact is that I plan on selling my car in the next month or so to purchase a GT or GTS-which will definetly have a NOS system. My experience has come from my 85 Trans Am (which uses a NOS wet system). A good source of info for you, and anyone else thinking about nitrous, can be found at http://WWW.Holley.com/HiOctn/TechServ/Techinfo/NOSTech.html. This site has a lot of good info about Nitrous Oxide in general and is not just limited to their own systems.

The nitrous system on the 928 mentioned above was removed from that car. The car also has a new owner.
