Please help
the 5th gear started to"jump" out,and the problem is I need to go for a job related 100 mile trip tomorrow. Question is : it is safe to drive and try to fix it when I get back.

I had that problem (not the 928) w/a 5-speed. It happened after about an hour of highway driving. I was on a 500 mile trip and continued. I don't recommend this. The problem was intermittant. I found out about half way into the trip that my gear box lube was low and in this case heat was the problem. Not every gas station has the stuff. I stopped every hour for 15 minutes. I could have cooked the gears, or synchros or whatever but I have driven 50K since refilling and replacing the leaking seal that caused the problem. I blame PO, but the moral is I should have checked everything when I got that car. Some small drip may not be harmless if it isn't being replenished.
