The modulator is more closely associated with the firmness of the shifts rather than the speed at which a shift occurs, although there is some interaction. At this point, the trans shifts perfectly fine, especially for the way I drive the car.

The few times that I really want a first-gear start, I just stab the pedal quickly to get it from a start or slow roll, or manually haul the gear lever back to force the issue.

The test of the module was a chance to see if a programmable/adjustable shift module would be fun to have. The slightly quicker rear end gears in the '89+ make first-gear start less of an issue than it might be in a 2.20 geared car.

If your car does respond well to the PKS or jumper test and always starts off in first with the solenoid activated, the BergWerks module will make the car more fun, without the bother of having to work the manual switch all the time. Worth a look!
