Saw the 2nd 1/2 of the movie 'World's Fastest Indian' recently.
This thread reminds me a bit of the movie.
Hope you got GOOD/Perfect alignment and rotationally balanced wheels/tires.
I get that annoying steering wheel wobble around 80ish mph. Bet that would get annoying trying to aim a car down a narrow strip of runway at high speed.
Do you need to tape down the wipers or do they just fly up at speed.

Alignment is good on mine, I regularly travel at 150 mph plus when testing my Nitrous (on a track of course )
Wipers and mirrors will be removed and all seams and headlights etc will be taped over...i might even shut the sunroof for a change but that depends if its a sunny day lol

Rumor was it that fairing (smoothing) that drop at the top of the rear window glass to top of rear hatch made the car unstable at high warp situations. Guess them Porsche guys put that 'drop' there to the glass for a reason.
With little crosswind, Brett's still got 1500 lbs plus of car at each axle to keep him on the ground. Think the philosopher Jim B. once said that the 928 is fairly aerodynamically neutral.
My egg shaped car does not mind crosswinds that much. But that's at real slow legal speeds.
Would love to have in-car video of the run. Wonder if you'd even hear the V8 scream with all the wind noise. . .

Noise....I think I will be putting out over 130 Db , so the video should pick that up
I discussed the S2s aerodynamics with a specialist aero engineer, there were a couple of things he suggested (like NACA type ducts at BACK of bonnet(hood) )
and more of them at rear of roof, which would duct air UNDER the car.
He did say it was pretty stable and although the above aerodynamic improvements would make it EASIER for me to reach my goal , none were needed IF i had enough hp, so I figured ,as its my daily driver ,I had two choices,
1...hack it to pieces and make it look like the Delorean in Back to the future
.or
2...Just add HUGE amounts of hp with Nitrous...and having a friend like Trevor Langfield helps as he is the foremost expert in Nitrous in the world (IMHO)
You can see which I chose
I did consider 2000 hp but decided that was a little over the top and 1000 seemed adequate
All the best Brett
p.s. If it all goes really wrong......there is always the Chute.....

Hopefully an ejection seat will not be needed. But I don't think there's anyone who can fit through the 928 mailslot sunroof. Except for the Olsen twins, maybe.
Just remember to turn off the flux capacitor or the car wlll go Poof at 88mph and you'll end up in Victorian England or sometime else.

Race Director
The aerodynamic stability of the stock 928 is quite good......its drag is okay, considering the large frontal area of about 21.28 sq ft.... There are currently 2 different 928's that have gone over 200 in ORR....both with some changes to improve aerodynamics...no side mirrors, lowered ride height, tape body seams, adjustable rear wings, etc..... Tim went past 200 at least 6 times last year....with a peak of 208mph..... Back in the day Devek went 210.....
I wonder how fast some of the racers could go.....like Anderson or Fans big power strokers.....even with the wide body work and big wings I bet they could come close to 190-200...& be VERY stable while doing it!

Geez! Not the most discrete of tanks, are they.
I've seen many a racers rotate the tach assembly so that it's redline when the needle's pointing up. Not sure if that would work with your external Tach.
They used to sell the cool slimline row of LED mini-shift lights.
I like those. Green --> Yellow (4000-6000) --> Red

Hi Ernest
Thanks for posting the picture, you are welcome to post any other you wish from there, at the moment I only have limited time so cannot post them all on every 928 forum
The tach reads roughly 6000 to 7000 in that position at the top.....which is why I angled it like that
Discreet I am not lol...I like hard and fast.....pretty I don't do
All the best Brett
