I would appreciate any help

On my 1983 928S the base (stump) of the driver's side mirror is about half an inch tall from the top of the gasket to the mirror pivot, the
passenger's side is only about one eighth inch tall.

The mirror bases are NOT mirror images (sorry about the pun) and the passenger mirror cannot be folded back (it hits the door )

I am assuming that the passenger mirror was replaced by the first owner (I bought it in June 1987) and the wrong (but close) part was used.

I need to find a taller Base(stump) so that next time it gets hit from the front it will not dent the door and break the mirror glass.

Can anyone shed some light on 928 mirror variants.

Info regarding years and mirror part numbers would be most helpful.
