1st place to check - the sender connection on top of the tank - under the luggage rug...pass. side.

So...I don't need to drop the gas tank....... for the sending connection... and I could check it through the inside of the car...

Thanks

Pull up the carpet and tank access cover in the back - right(pass) side...3 prong plug goes into the top of the tank...As I said - this is the FIRST thing to check...hopefully that will be it - otherwise...typical chasing down thru all kinds of things!!

Check the plug onto the tank top is good, clean it etc. If still no go, pull the plug off and check the sender unit. One conatct is for low fuel light the other two are float hieght via resistance. tank empty, IIRC, resistance is ~ 80 Ohms, coming down to almost nothing when full. Mine didnt work due to dried crud on the wires, so i had to pull the sender out and clean it. Remove the return hose, undo the plastic nut with two crossed screwdrivers, carefully lift the sender out - may need wriggling to clear a baffle inside. On the bottom is a small nut - remove, then the tubular body can be pried off the top to expose the wires. Clean somehow CAREFULLY, so as not to break them. Also check the float - it has a metal strip across it to short the wires - the ends of the this are > shaped to rub the wire, which should slide over the point of the > . Mine had got around the back of the >, so were not touching it, and therefore not reading. Been good ever since I cleaned it, but YMMV.
