Need Cat, any experience with DEC direct fit?

OK. I found a reference to an 85/86 direct fit cat w/air. It has two flanged inlet pipes, dual-in, and non-flanged dual-out. Very nice, not sure of price or who distributes it if I can't buy from mfctr. Its 40345 manufactured by Eastern Catalytic in Langhorn PA. They don't list an 84 model, but the 85 duals may be the route! (Great catalog + tech info, careful its a BIG download)
Guys, do you know if this stock/replacement 85/86 unit will bolt-up directly to my 84 stock manifold pipe? Or do I need 85/86 manifold pipes, too? These are the crucial questions.
I think this unit would be the best of all worlds, flow + appearance.

System is shot.
Might as well be a moderate to high-flow cat or something else that will pass inspection.
Am not concerned about maximizing hp at this point. Maybe later, not now.

I think the '84 block 16V does not have the offset cylinders that the 32V cars do. You need to extend the pipe to the passenger bank of cylinders (if memory serves), or buy a spacer from Motorsport.

Jay,
When i say average, i mean average being that any muffler shop or midas i suspect could do as good a job or better. The factory setup i would say is a 10 rusty old pipes sourced from an old pickup made to fit would be a 1, DEC is a 5, they fit, they are new, they work, but they look like crap, wont last very long and would cost 2x as much as i think it would cost if you just made them yourself.
Use one of our sponsors X-pipes or use the CAT from another owner that went to an Xpipe.

The 85 exhaust bolts right to the manifolds no problem at all. It is ONLY when 85-86 32 valve Manifolds are fitted that the flanges are not in the correct location. Like I said I put the 85 exhaust on my wife's 79 with no problems.

Jim, thanks for that reply.
Now I know exactly what I can do. Didn't understand at first how you set-up your wife's car.
And, if I eventually source the later manifolds, a spacer will be needed to complete the connection.
