Post Thanx VU / Wally

Morning All,

It was the alarm system........

I jumpered Z4 to Z6 on the fuse panel and voila! The car started immediately.

Can't thank you enough Wally!

This took an extremely long time to sort out. Especially since someone else had been screwing with the electrical system before I got to it.
If only the car had been properly diagnosed in the beginning, we could have fixed this a week ago.

My warning? is to be very methodical when dealing with the electrical system on a 928. Use the manuals and especially Rennlist to troubleshoot the system. Obviously, someone was in there with a hack-n-slash mentality and through a couple of errors, made life miserable for 2 other people for a week.....

The bright side is that it has given me a entirely new outlook on troubleshooting a non-running shark. Countless hours were spent reading, testing and confirming.

OK - 'nuff said there.

Wally,
Since the owner of this car has a Viper alarm installed, is it possible to permanently jumper those pins to delete the factory alarm?

Well, first I should ask how much trouble it would be to fix the problem. I am thinking its a problem in the driverside door lock but how to diagnose this?

What else runs on the Z plug?
Currently, with the plug off the board, I have no interior or dash lights. Not sure if that is carried on this plug or something else. I spent most of my night rewiring the Viper alarm back into the ignition harness that I hacked out over the weekend. God, I am so glad I left knubs on the cut wires so I could put them back to their original positions.

Troubleshooting a no-start on a 928 has just become a lot easier for me over the last week. This in itself was worth all of the aggravation.

Thanx Again VU and Wally.
