As far as the cross brace being off , I have never heard of this requirment, and it isnt really convienient if your doing engine work with the car on a lift, I have watched the amount of flex that happens by loosening one side and waching the bolts move as the car comes off the ground, about quarter to half inch or so, i always tighten the crossbrace up after lowering the car onto the ground, I have never broken a windshield, and it is one of the first things i remove, if i am working on the engine, with the car usually on the lift. I thought that the cross brace was installed to box the front end suspension, and tie in the upper control arms, and shocks. I would be interested to find out if this is in fact a true caveat, Thanks for your time, Stan
Surely there's a world of difference between using a lift and jacking the car at one corner. For those of us who don't have a lift, and have to resort to using jacks, it would seem foolish to lift or lower the car without the brace in place.

Mine is original black. Almost any work with tools near the brace requires a quick application of blue tape to protect it from tool scratches. Tape comes off when work is done. So far so good, brace still looks wonderful.

I do need to get some new bolts. Car wash water and soap have taken their toll on the plating. The yellow is now faded to grey. Replacements will be air-brushed clear on the heads or someting. Maybe I'll probably just get a few sets so they always look new. Bolts are cheap, right?

Bert,
I have two of the same carbon fiber braces from Vertex, love them!
