Default Big Blacks and 16 inch wheels

Is anyone running this combo? I know it depends on the wheel but were spacers needed?

Won't fit...need at least 17" rims for the larger brakes!

86.5 and S4's had big black's on them with S4 flat disc wheels on them.

why would they not fit? the wheels were 16 inch.....

15" phone dials definitely won't work?

I think the "Big Black's" he's referring to are the GTS front calipers which are the same size as 993 TT's, just a different color. They will not work with 16" wheels.

Good point....most 944 guys take stock S4 brakes as an upgrade....

So yes stock S4 302mm 4 pistons will fit....the 322mm 4 piston will not fit

Yep! and Yes!

D90's 7x16x55mm needed 3mm spacer front
D90's 8x16x52mm needed no spacer rear.

Hi Andre,
thanks for the reply. Are you referring to the S4 brakes or the GTS brakes? I am referring to the GTS big blacks

D90's are actually a close fit on GTS front brakes, but still don't fit.

Agree 16's won't fit over Big blacks/big reds. The 951 guys also had the medium S4's as part of the M030 package. These will fit 16's with the smaller rotor. The medium S4's used on the 91-92 turbo with the 322mm rotor might, but not sure. These use the same pad but the larger rotor than the 928's. The casting is different but I don't believe it is as large as the big blacks/reds by 10mm not sure if it is that much smaller that it would work, but might be worth a look. Wouldn't gain you any clamping force but would gain you additional swept area.

To move my GTS while i had tyres mounted, i ran bbs 16-inchers on the front and there was no problem. I was a tad surprised.

Could you give us the ID of these wheels. I had a friend that was going to go with 360mm rotors and the F1 calipers on his turbo and he found some BBS wheels that fit over them in 18" size when the standard consensus was that you needed 19's min.

It might be possible that some manufactures design might work although not recommended. I have a TSB at home that states you should not use any of the 16" Porsche wheels over the big blacks/reds I will look it up when I get a chance.

Here's an ever more subtle question ... what size spare is needed to clear Big Blacks?

Tom, Spare? I thought they just those in to help with weight distribution.

Anthony, I think you can fit 380s in an 18" reverse drop center wheel.
