Can you take out the motor and flip the plunger up with it out?

Slip flat blade straight back in the joint between hatch and body. With a little force it should open. Tried the hole thing and it didn't work for me, either.

Sean, nope, I can't pull or push the lever arm enough to move to latch. I am not a wimp.

LandSeer, I'll try a paint scrapper, 1/32 thick blade about 1 inch wide and see what happens

Anybody....is that hole in the right place? P928-anotomy 101

TIA KK

Better with a narrow, thin flat headed screwdriver.

Say, 1/8 inch wide or so.

Center it L/R.

Straight back fairly deep, give slight twist.

If you don't solve by 9 am or so, post that, and I'll get the camera out and do a few pictures to help you solve it.

I was able to open a hatch like this. First hole was too low, your's looks like it's in the right place. I used a pin punch and tapped with a hammer. Might help if you have someone pushing down on the outside to take the pressure off. Make sure you're on the white latch and not on the metal part of the latch. You should be able to "feel" with the punch.

No, that's the white 82 parts car that I've been disassembling. No keys so I had to figure some way to open the hatch.

The piece in the hatch lid moves to release it. Pressing back ( from inside car ) releases it. Higher rather than lower is key, as noted with the hole suggestion. Higher than that is ok too, no hole, between hatch and body.

Can also be accomplished by pressing on the lower plastic piece, but upper seems better.
