Jim.........you misread my post;; never said a word re. bigger brakes..........too much stock in Jan?

Wow, things seem to be getting pretty heated in regards to the head gasket! Lots of good points, well taken. Like Lizard said unless I can find a good machine shop up here it might be better to stay stock.

Reading Carl's install guide on his site he confirms what everyone is saying about the Cometic gaskets. I don't want to rehash this but he says that beyond making sure the head and block are straight he suggests that you also retorque the head after 3 heat cycles. Makes sense to me and something I'll think about.

As for stopping, I used my car at the track last fall and I was very impressed at the braking ability. I installed drilled rotors, OEM pads and changed my fluid to ATE Blue for the event. No fade all day! I would like to track the car 4-6 times a year, it's such a blast. The only upgrade I was contemplating is to the bigger GTS setup. Is it possible to move the stock front S4 brakes onto the rears? If this works it would probably work quite well. GTS fronts and S4 fronts on the rear?

Ok, besides the head gasket debate is there any other suggestions on what I should be or not be doing?

On the should side, since you track the car find a roll bar, install a proper seat & buy a 6-point harness.

Good to hear you've looked after the brakes..........one would believe that the bigger GTS front rotors and calipers would provide superior stopping for cars that essentially weight the same. 928sRus offer a complete package.

The S4 and GTS rear brakes are identical; moving S4 fronts to the rear is perhaps possible but would surely result in too much rear brake bias.

I see there is another thread on here where the person installed 993TT rears on his car. Looks interesting!
