and one more thing while you're under the intake: With the 85/86 and any other MY that uses shock absorber bolts to secure the main air guide, *replace* those bolts with brand new ones. Before you start the service, listen carefully for a "booming" noise from deep in the engine bay when you start the car. When the shock absorber bolts securing the air guide invariably sheer, the air guide periodically knocks around within the engine-V, making a drum-like noise, sounding much more insidious than it is.

I would say that a complete intake R&R is only required once in the life of the car(guessing that it won't last past 40 years). Unless you have other problems and you need to remove the itnake, it only should be done once.
