Have they brought their car up to 100% function and getting all the power and performance it has stock? Any un done maintenance?
Are they running on 20 year old suspension and cheap/old tires?
A/t tranny? (try a 5 speed in the same car to see if that does the trick)

I think the 928 has a lot of natural performance if it is mechanically restored, but I am a believer in stiffer suspension and bigger rubber. I would recommend this route before going on the 'steroids'.

A 2nd and 3rd gear blast down the street with my friend Chris prompted him to say "Do you mind if I take out an insurance policy on you?" Pretty funny, I told him it would be a waste of money.
Already done that----

We're talking cars... not hair dryers.

talked to Moldex Crank today about making a crank.

production is 20 weeks out, cost approx $2650. 1 per order, no problem.

back to work on more research-----

me too... then I put down the beer bong and go to bed.

imo, anything over 350rwhp and 400tq really wakes these cars up and also upsets the balance in a big way. stock I used to just mash the throttle to wot coming out of a turn and not think about it as the power rolled up.

try that at these power levels and you'll be facing backwards in a ditch or off the track so fast you'll set a record of some kind. in fact, there was a rash of SC'd guys that totaled their cars w/their newfound power when these 1st started coming out.

throttle control has to be at a whole nuther level to stay in 1 piece, and they accelerate so fast that you really do have to pay a lot more attention to stuff that seems ridiculisly far away, even w/improved brakes and rubber.

kinda like riding a superbike instead of a car while on the throttle, and back to a car again when on the brakes/turning.

stroker = tried and proven in a 928 on the race track and street (edit: and street added)
SC = tried and proven in a 928 on the street

stroker = expensive
SC = inexpensive (compared to a stroker)

stroker = will pass visual inspection in emission testing states
SC = will not pass visual inspection in emission testing states

You bring up some very good points......in my stock S4 I can be very heavy footed around accelerating corners with reckless abandon pretty much.......NO WAY it would work with the power you have!!!! Not even close.....

Even my stock S4 open diff destroys the inside tire all over a tight autocross...I can't imagine what your stroker would be like.....spinning BOTH wheels all across the track!!

Brian then you were cornering too SLOW !! The old very brown 1980 with less than 200 rwhp you can induce throttle oversteer any time you want to if you are in the right gear Helps rotate the car in slow corners... It does have a limited slip (thanks Mark)

Good summation. Is there a racing class where a SCed 928 could compete?

NASA GTS Challenge or Super Unlimited, PCA GT1 (or GTP?), and I'm sure there is something for SCCA.
