Huey,
Nope, no logo. There are two barely discernable spots on the dash - not console -
that are just a hair darker than the rest of the leather. One is a rectangle, approximately
3 1/2 " by 1 1/2". It is on the dash proper - not on trim - centered above the upper console air duct. Is that it? I thought the PO had used adhesive for an accessory.
Has anyone butchered the leather installing new speakers? I couldn't bring myself to do it so I just bypassed the amp and ran new wires to the stock front speakers from the fader-it still works- and left the rears alone. I put in a cheapy AWIA and was pleasantly suprised. Nakamichi it ain't but I like it!
There are at least two other Weissach types that pop in -rarely- though they sound like Weissach as an investment types. Nothing wrong with that but I am enjoying mine. I have started saving the EBay auto sales flicks and will save the VIN's when they come up. Was a particularly nice 5 spd
up in Indiana last year going for around 8K a little high, but then how many of these puppies are still left? How does yours run compared to the 'old' 81? Mine (Pattycakes-named after my MOM) runs GREAT. Can't imagine what the S4's and GT's run like.
My VIN is :WPOJA0925CS821514 for build comparison.
I suppose there is a master listing for the chassis build-up VIN's. More than likely they "BLOCKED" the 250 Hellbronze sHARKs in one clump of the 82'model year.
From what I gathered so far, if you are interested in the relative rarity.
Not in order, incomplete listings, and totals not verified:
78' - 1139
79' - either 2285 ,or, 1146, start VIN unclear
82' - 5000 minus our 250 Weissach's, then break down by Euro models, if any, and 5spds.
84' Club Sports -unknown
The 95's-many stories abound - 2500
92 GTS's, supposedly, none sold new in the U.S.
Do me a favor? If you have it post the wheel code numbers.
Thanks,
Keep em rolling ...even if you have to push.

John, 1514?! I've got #1533, hellbronze, S options...

The sticker in the rear isn't there and it looks like the dealer failed to put one in the warrenty booket. My dash is somewhat warped and a little discolored, so I can't tell if anything was ever there. I'm requesting the op code info from PCNA, but I just can't wait!
Any other tell-tales?

Talking

Trippin'!
2 5spds and 2 auto's..... now if only we could locate a Euro...
Actually, I have heard comments to the effect that the Weissach was a USA marketing thing.
Would be cool to find a 300 hp version though.
Huey, I'd be lyin' and dyin' if I popped off with a yay or nay on wether or not the build vin's and
Weissach model numbering was in order. Really, I'm stretching wayyyyy out there making an assumption that they blocked the chassis numbers - all 250 - in sequence.
Jessa,
All of the Weissach's had the S cosmetic trim as well as the hellbronze paint - the upper numbers/letters are the paint code- what the bottom one's are is beyond me. I believe we had standard: the forged wheels, -anodized -, the foam 'S' rear spoiler, and the Bronze tinted glass - going to be REAL hard to come by -
I'm not sure if the option code:
406 - 50th year anniversary car, 1982, applies.
462 - Special Model Weissach, 1982, does.
Auto, 5 spd, cruise, sunroof, radio type ... all should code out like any other 928.
Dennis, you tramp! Hard to come by. the Original owner would not part with the luggage, spare keys including lock-lug keys and documentation other than the Weissach Certificate with standard set of coffee rings. At some point in time could you post a picture of the luggage set? I don't care if there are rips and mold on the set. Looking for shape, size, and logo. Any of you going to the Fest in Sharkansas?
Jessa,
Portias Parts & Restoration might be able to help with the leather dash. : <a href="http://www.kondratyev.com/porsche" target="_blank">www.kondratyev.com/porsche</a> If you guy's have a great interior you might be fooled like I was... the POD is actually, vinyl. The match on mine made it look EXACTLY like leather. I developed a crack in my pod On a Texas November day 85.F.
It goes in to Portias soon. Also missing the cargo cover. Searching for a template...
Keep sniffing around folks... I wonder what the mortality rate was on our Georgeous Weissach production run?
Keep em rolling - even if you have to push -.

Dennis,Do you have an pic of your weissach plaque on your dash?I have an pic but can't load it up on here.
John,my 82 pulls just as hard as my 81 928s,but both(928) feel a little lag until it kicks in.Slow at start(compared to 5.0L fords but *** kicking over 120=)
Do you guys also know if a 100 to 150 shot of nos will hurt our engines(4.5L)?My 81 is in parts right now=(.So I don't want to use my daily driver weissach as a test subject. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

YEHAAA! I just called PNCA and got the option codes. 462 is there! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> And to think the PO advertised the car's color are being 'tan'.

John, Having bought it with a cracked windshield, I've already run into the bronze glass issue, and was forced to use green . I've got a very tattered cargo cover that's I'm going to use as a template for a new one once I get off my rear about it. I'll post measurements and details of it goes.

Dennis,
All of that and you are Horsepower harlot, too? FEEL the envy... Hey that was an extract, or your actual window sticker? I noticed the Weissach
package and competition package were separate packages...got the scoop on that? Thanks for corrections. Was timing/mapping/fuel ratio an issue with the Euro cam install?
NOS, pure hearsay... 50 to 80 HP giggle-gas boost and no more. No explanation at this time. Maybe detonation, lean condition issue ... unsure.
Jessa, Danke, re: cargo cover. Did you check out Portia's yet?
Bummer on the glass, how does it look? Did you call 928 International about the glass? when I was out in San Diego to pick up Pattycakes I drove up to L.A. and checked them out - needed a oil return line- they were a little cramped for space but had EVERYTHING! I thought I saw at least one Bronze shield on the glass racks.
All,
Pattycakes got clobbered Monday night to the point where it might be out of my league to effect a repair. Next time your waxing your svelte, hellbronze, beauties don't gripe about the stone nicks. Just appreciate what you have.
And no, Pattycakes AIN'T a parts car yet so don't even think about it...

John,

When I had the work done 928int listed bronze windshields out of stock. The green glass looks fairly clear eccept for the dark band at the top, which being common to most cars doesn't seem at all out of place. It would probably be a different story for any other windows, and if they were (god forbid!) to break, I'd go as far as custom tinting to match the original if I couldn't find the right replacment.

I checked out the Portia's site and I think my pod crack will be gone ahead of schedule, thanks. Looks like they're 15 min drive away for me, too.
