Unhappy Seatbelt woes...

I've been tormented by a combo seatbelt problem.
Drivers side.
1. The belt has a habit of doing a fold over as it runs thru the recessed guide.
I have pulled the screws for better access straightened the belt and re-installed 6 times now. And the fold over continues.
2. When I straighten the fold over I work the belt easily a dozon times practically to the stops. It moves smoothly and retracts well, though it doesn't SNAP BACK.
Within a few days to a week I feel drag, the belt won't retract all the way, and it has folded over again. Doesn't seem to matter wether I pull with a vengance, or gently draw it out when securing the belt. The real pisser is; in this hung mode there is a good chance that when closing the door that some portion of the belt will run interference.
TIA
John S.

John - I had the same problem on my drivers side. The section of the belt that was resting on the shoulder loop was starting to fray and distort. Bought and installed a used replacement from one of the 'big three'. Works like new. Good luck!

Cool

In replacing the seat belt retractor assembly (which includes the belt btw)...

keep in mind that if memory serves, you get to pull the associated rear interior quarter panel, which means a few other interior items get ot come out as well in the process.

Don't say you weren't warned! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Best of luck...

Paul,
No visible wear or fraying .
Maybe a slight weave stretch form being 'folded so many times .
One more small sacrifice
- there are a bunch aren't there -
for the Golden Godess.
Thanks

Jay is absolutely right. I think I was supressing an unfavorable memory. I ended removing the rear seat bottom cusion and lower leather panel (where the rear seat belt passes through). Then after removing the screws that hold the foward rear interior side panel, I opened it just enough to remove the seatbelt retractor and replace. It was a tight working area but arn't they all!

Jay, & Paul,
Oh Joy!
I just hope I don't crease the leather panel and start an air bubble run.
Maybe I'll find a set of diamond earings, or, at least something other than a fuzz covered lollipop stick.
Man the vacuum cleaner! We are going in...
