Hello , can anyone help with the location of the gearbox numberof a 928s?

One of the ribs on the bottom not far behind the crossmember.

Isn't that the serialnumber of the transaxle ?
Of am i wrong.

G28/55 is the model number of his tranny. I'm not sure what 3L is but the number on the right is probably the tranny serial number.

Manuals are G28/xx, slushboxes are A28/xx

It's the model number (G28.55 on the left) and the serial number 3L 919 on the right.

That is late numbering style. Early style has little different LSD info layout but basic G28/xx for manual gearbox and A28/xx type designation apply to them all.

@ Rob , i don't see a number on that location.
Mine is a '82 model.

The location is two ribs forward on the transmission.

Erkka is a treasure trove of 928 information. It's pretty obvious that he has read (and understands) the onerous manuals.

The 928 color that I like better than white (which I do not own, yet) is the green in Erkka's avatar. Are there 928s in the US with this color?

Thanks to Erkka, I can now crawl under my 928 and decode the trans number. Thanks, Erkka!
