You should have the pistons made first so they could be bore fitted to the cylinders (piston bore clearance). Forged aluminum pistons require more clearance then cast ones. Good luck

John glad to see that you went the route I mentioned, i.e. not a chrome ring in sight, the 911 rings that's perfect. You'll always be able to get the rings in the future too.I was a bit worried there for a while. I think your sumation is basically correct about the risk factors. With the proviso that I have no experiance with hi sulpher fuels as I don't live in the U.S. I wish you the best of luck. <img border="0" alt="[bigbye]" title="" src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" />
Millenium will be waiting to do the final diamond hone until my pistons have arrived, they will then be bored on a weighted average and fitted up and numbered. Finally they will be sent to a shop in Kentucky where the engine will be finally assembled (i.e. my garage). The 911 turbo rings should provide great results! I really trust EBS and their knowledge of the process of having custom pistons made to use stock Porsche circlips and rings. It seems to be the best of both worlds.

I saw a picture of a Honda F1 piston online somewhere. Very shallow, nearly no skirt to it at all. I remember hearing something like 6 to 8 oz. or some rediculous number like that.
I thought the 928 pistons would be lighter. Mine were 25 oz. with the rings, wrist pin and circlips.

Here is an F1 piston, it only has two ring lands and would be very light. It would not be very durable. It doesn't look coated to me, which probably indicates that they are using a chrome plating or a chrome ceramic coating on the bore. Chrome ceramic coatings have better high RPM wear properties due to oil retention. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
