ABS upgrade problems
I have just completed a brake upgrade on a '85 S2 Euro which originally had the cast iron type brake calipers.
I have installed the brembo type from a '86 Euro. I have had to change the front and rear hubs and associated supension arms etc. to accommodate the change, which meant changing from the early 91 tooth ABS coding wheels on the drive shafts and front hubs to the later 45 tooth type.
(ABS tone wheels changed between 85 and 86 MY's)
I have also had to upgrade the ABS computer to cope with the change from 91 to 45 teeth.
Just a straight forward plug in change, or so I thought!
The wiring is subtly different in that on a '85 the front right sensor is connected to pins 21 & 23, but on the '86 it is connected to pins 21 and 11.
I also have a problem in that both the rear sensors have the correct output in hemselves but are shorted to earth somewhere!
So I now goint to try and rejig the ABS cable connector to move a wire from pin 23 to pin 11 to suit the later ABS computer.
Then try and find the short on the two rear sensors. I guess the sensors themselves will be to blame, but I hope its just a loom fault somewhere! Although ABS was fine before the upgrade!
The joy of the nine28 strikes again!

I haven't been taking any pictures, always too dirty to use the camera!
Just moved the crimp connector inside the ABS cable header from pin 23 to pin 11 to suit the '86 ABS computer, and hey presto; just run up the lane and back and all is ok in the world of ABS!
Although I still have a sort to earth on both rear ABS wheel sensors.......weird!
YippeE!
Just got one windscreen washer jet to get working and the car is a 'good to go'
