Question I have a question about the lights on the front fenders.

Mine flash with the turn signals; however, they don't come on with the park lights.

Should they come on with the park lights?

Same here.

So if they are supposed to, both our cars are broken!

Mine are on when Park lights on.

Either a bad relay, fuse, or switch.

Oh...

I forgot.

Mine's a euro, so the only side light is for turn signals. But I thought that maybe it would be good if it could come on with the parking lights...

My side lights (behind the front wheels) only work as blinkers, not as parking lights.

I believe there once was a requirement in Italy that said cars must have additional blinkers on the side. That's probably the reason why Euro 928s have these side blinkers in the first place. And since the US required the side markers in the front and back, it would make sense that Porsche did not want to make another version without any blinker/side marker at all. Not that I have any specific information on this, it's just a guess...

An early Road and Track article (1978, I think), shows the regular European model (LHD) with no side markers front or back, like the Japanese.

I've got a flick of an early model, LHD, with zero markers front or rear and a real interesting blue, paint job to boot.

Two of the Posters from 1978 ; show cars with out side markers both were probably preproduction show cars . The designers no doubt felt the sidemarkers detracted from the form of the car . I have to think that the USA 7 inch sealed beam lights with chrome trim rings also had them rolling on the floor .......they want what headlight ? give them some chrome too , plastic covered with chrome ...

Cool

I went "junkyard surfing" today- I ran across what turned out to be a '79 that had -NO- side turn signals or US side marker lights. I kinda figured that someone had a US model and decided to shave the markers... but perhaps it was Japanese. It was not right hand drive-

-I think the smooth look is best. Eventually, when I have my '85 S2 repainted back to black, I'm going to have the stuck-on-for-federalization side markers removed/filled and have the rub strip pulled as well.

N!

Thanks for all of the info.

I'll check mine out after I get a few other problems squared away.

Normy, I'm with you! I'd like to do the same, even though my side markers are US style. The downside: The car would no longer be original. We'll see - it's a few years away...
